Facilitations > Program 1: Power Meetings
Our facilitators build strong meeting skills and outcomes by
participating in scheduled meetings (with 30 minutes added to
the beginning and end). The facilitator interviews the meeting
sponsor to discuss the purpose and desired outcomes, review the
agenda and other background. We find out if there are outside
influences that will not be present yet will influence the
boundaries of the conversation.
The meeting sponsor introduces the role of the facilitator. In a
30- minute briefing we lay out guidelines of our process on an
easel and ask for buy in. If granted, we take a light role in
facilitating the interplay of the meeting itself and keeping it
on course. Questions may be posed, body language and side
conversations noted, timeline maintained and agenda followed or
redrawn if needed.
At meetings end, there is a 30 minute recap of what worked and
what didn’t. The desired meeting outcomes are compared with what
actually happened, and the group takes on the task of setting
out fresh norms and practices for future meetings. A write up is
made and later distributed. If asked, the facilitator will
return to another meeting to continue the process. After the
meeting we de brief the sponsor and get feedback on what was
accomplished.
There are a number of variations on the facilitation model that
will be adapted to the client's needs.
